ABOUT Me

I’m Kim, and I’m the human behind May the Hair Be with You!

I’m originally from a beach town off the Treasure Coast of Florida, but I’ve made Orlando my heart and home since 2009. It’s pretty obvious that I’m a major geek, based off my business name alone… so I’m all for conversations about spooky stuff, history, theatre, and many types of fandoms (like Harry Potter). I have an amazing daughter, who is only giving me a taste of my own medicine, but I love her for it. When I’m not slinging color, I enjoy going to concerts/shows, starting and abandoning crafty hobbies, trying new places to eat, working out (sometimes), and doing anything that brings my mind peace.

After being a theatre major, then a psych major, then studying ASL, I finally stopped going to college, and did something with my life! I went to hair school. Theatre has always been the driving force behind my motivation towards the beauty industry, however I fell head over heels in love with hair, and I never looked back. I’ve been in the industry since 2013, and graduated from the Aveda Institute in Winter Park, FL. From there, I worked in a couple salons before settling down in that cute little home turned salon near Downtown Orlando; where my skills and career blossomed for close to 8 years.

Now, I have taken the next leap as a seasoned hairdresser, and will work independently, so I can create the best work/life balance for myself and my family. I am inspired to grow even more, invest in my education, and provide an experience that is genuine.

Mission

The mission within MTHBWY is to create and collaborate on a customized hair experience that will also give you a safe space to respectfully, be your authentic self. I strive for integrity, authenticity, and consistency.

Core Values

  • Just like the force in Star Wars, I am very attuned to the energy that moves through and surrounds every living thing. I state this because it is my core belief that through your hair, and collaborating together, we can guide you closer to feeling at one with yourself and your hair.

  • MTHBWY will be a safe space for your feelings, thoughts, and to respectfully be yourself.

  • Gorgeous, gorgeous gorgeous people have HEALTHY hair, therefore maintaining the integrity of your biggest accessory is priority number one when it comes to any chemicals coming near your beautiful head.

  • I believe that humans are always growing and learning and choose to apply that concept into my career and in the work I create.

  • Expressing yourself through your appearance aids in feeling like your true self. This could mean a natural lived-in color, your usual haircut, or through vivid colors and bold cuts; you feeling comfortable in your own hair brings the soul, and myself joy.
